We're About Learning, Making Friends, and Having Fun!

Strictly Salsa Jackson Hole was started by people who have a passion for Cuban Style Salsa, and who wanted to share that passion with the community.  Our group grew quickly, and we expanded into different styles of Bachata, plus some LA Style Salsa. We also began weekly social dancing and monthly parties. And twice a year we have week-long Salsa and Bachata workshops with guest instructors from Miami, New York, Mexico and Spain.

Private Lessons for Salsa and Bachata

In addition to our weekly class schedule we also offer private lessons in  Cuban Style Salsa and in Urban/Sensual Bachata. Privates are usually for one hour but can be up to 90 minutes, and we are happy to teach partners/couples. Each instructor sets their own rates, so please inquire through our Contact Page. We also offer informal practices in Intermediate and Advanced Cuban Style Casino Rueda and intermediate to advanced Bachata.
Click on the photo to the right to see a cool Bachata video of Daniel and Taylor at Cancun Sensual Movement Festival. Daniel is half of the top Bachatc couple in the world (Daniel y Desiree...Desiree is recovering from an injury), and Taylor an amazing dancer from New York, along with her regular partner, Luis. We were lucky to have Taylor and Luis here in Jackson Hole this past winter for a week-long workshop and hope to have them again this coming winter (2026).

Understanding Salsa Styles

Clearing up some confusion about different styles of Salsa....You've probably heard of LA Style, New York Style, Cuban Style, Puerto Rican Style, etc. All styles are fun and energetic.
Here at Strictly Salsa Jackson Hole, we dance primarily Cuban Style Salsa, and we dance on One.

Cuban Style (see Cuban video to left) is sometimes called Rueda de Casino (or just Casino), and this form of Cuban Style is danced in a circle, with couples following the instructions of a leader, all couples doing the same patterns, and then the men move around the circle, changing partners as they go. Cuban style can also be danced free-style in a club with a couple making up their routines as they go. Cuban style  is danced in three points which makes up a circular motion as partners face each other in intricate patterns of arms and body movement.

And FYI we can also dance LA Style Salsa - North American LA Style Salsa (see video to the left, Multiple Spins is LA Style) is danced in a slot or a line (two points) where the leader moves his partner in a straight line from one point to the other. Another notable feature of LA style is that the woman is more on display and is often performing numerous spins. But its all fun, and if you know both styles its great to mix them with each other.
